Yoshida Shrine is a Shinto shrine located in eastern Kyoto, on a summit of the Higashiyama Mountain range. The Fujiwara family built the shrine in 859 to protect the imperial capital. It is dedicated to Kasuga-no-kami, the Fujiwara clan's tutelary god.
