Heian Jingu 平安神宮

Heian-jingū Shrine in Kyoto was established in 1895 to commemorate the 1100th anniversary of Kyoto becoming the capital. It honors Emperor Kammu and Emperor Komei, the first and last emperors to rule from the city. The shrine's main buildings are a smaller copy of the original Imperial Palace from the Heian Period.
