Tenjuan is a sub-temple of Nanzen-ji, located in Kyoto's eastern hills. It was established in 1336 to honor Daiminkokushi, the third Chief priest of Tofuku-ji. The temple was rebuilt after a fire in 1447 with assistance from Daimyo Hosokawa Yusai.
