Bishamon-do Temple 毘沙門堂門跡

Bishamon-do is a Buddhist temple of the Tendai school located in the Yamashina ward of Kyoto. Monk Gyoki founded the temple in 703, by order of Emperor Monmu. It was later moved and rebuilt in Yamashina during the Edo period, at the initiative of monk Tenkai and sponsored by shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu.
