Otagi Nenbutsu-ji Temple 愛宕念仏寺

Otagi Nenbutsuji is a temple located in the far western Arashiyama hills of Kyoto. It is known for its collection of 1200 Rakan statues, which represent the disciples of the historical Buddha. The original temple was built in 770 in the Higashiyama area, but it was later reestablished in northeast Kyoto and then moved to its current location in 1922.
