Kodai-ji 高台寺

Kōdaiji Temple, located in Kyoto's Higashiyama District, was founded in 1606. Nene, the wife of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, established the temple in his memory and is also enshrined there. The temple belongs to the Rinzai sect of Zen Buddhism and features main buildings constructed in a lavish style, surrounded by various gardens.
