Kennin-ji 建仁寺

Kenninji Temple, located in Kyoto, is a Zen temple established in 1202. It is considered the oldest Zen temple in Kyoto and was founded by Eisai, a Buddhist monk who introduced Zen Buddhism and tea cultivation to Japan. The temple is a head temple of the Rinzai Sect and is ranked third among Kyoto's five great Zen temples.
