Nawate Street in Matsumoto is a 200-meter long brick street situated along the Metoba River, south of Matsumoto Castle. The street, which has existed since the 1500s, is known for its frog theme. This theme originated after a 1959 typhoon caused flooding and the departure of the Kajika frogs that once inhabited the area.
