Narai-juku 奈良井宿

Narai-juku is a well-preserved post town located in the Kiso Valley, about an hour by train from Matsumoto. It was once the wealthiest and longest of the eleven post towns in its region along the historic Nakasendo, an Edo-period highway. The town is known for its traditional Kiso shikki lacquerware, and many shops offer these items.
