Pontocho 先斗町

Pontocho is a narrow alley in Kyoto, situated one block west of the Kamogawa River, running from Shijo-dori to Sanjo-dori. This area is known for its many restaurants, which offer a variety of dining experiences, including traditional Kyoto cuisine and international options. From May to September, some restaurants on the eastern side of the alley set up temporary platforms over the river for outdoor dining, a practice called kawayuka.
