Gion 祇園

Gion is a well-known geisha district in Kyoto, situated between Yasaka Shrine and the Kamo River. The area features many traditional wooden merchant houses, which were built with narrow fronts and long depths due to historical property tax rules. Visitors can find shops, restaurants, and teahouses, where geiko and maiko entertain guests.
