Mizuki Fortress Ruins 水城跡

The Mizuki Fortress Ruins are the remains of a fortified wall built in 664. This wall was constructed to defend western Japan from attacks originating from the Korean Peninsula and the Asian continent. The fortress also served as an entrance to Dazaifu City, featuring an eastern gate for imperial officials and a western gate for foreign delegates and merchants.
