Dazaifu Government Office Ruins (Tofuro) 大宰府政庁跡

The Dazaifu Government Office, which governed Kyushu from the late 7th century through the Nara and Heian periods, was located at this site. The office was built in Dazaifu as a political center, serving as a key defense position for western Japan and a point of negotiation with the Asian continent. Today, a large foundation stone remains, and the area is a green historical park with restored ruins of surrounding government offices.
