Enkakuji Temple Ruins 円覚寺跡

Enkakuji was a Buddhist temple established in 1492 by King Sho Shin. It served as the family temple for the Second Sho Dynasty and was the main temple for the Rinzai Zen Buddhist sect in the kingdom. The temple was destroyed during the Battle of Okinawa in 1945, and only a reconstructed outer gate remains.
