Yamachosuji Historic District 山町筋

Yamachosuji is a historic area over 600 meters long, featuring traditional Japanese townscapes and merchant houses with earthen walls. Lord Maeda Toshinaga of the Kaga Domain established this neighborhood when he founded the castle town of Takaoka. After a major fire in 1900, many fireproof earthen-wall storehouses were constructed in the early 20th century.
