The Yokohama Foreign General Cemetery is located in Yamate Naka-ku, Yokohama. It was first used in February 1854 for the burial of Private Robert Williams, an American Marine. Bishop Charles Alford formally dedicated the cemetery on November 29, 1868. The cemetery covers an area of 18,500 square meters and has 22 sections. It is open to the public on weekends during spring, summer, and fall for a donation, which helps with its upkeep. Visitors can also see a museum at the site.
