University of Tokyo Hongo Campus 東京大学本郷キャンパス

The Hongo campus of The University of Tokyo was once the residence of the Maeda Family, feudal lords during the Edo era. The campus features the Akamon, a large, old-fashioned red gate. Visitors can also find the Yasuda Koudo Lecture Hall, which was the site of student protests in 1968-69, and the peaceful Sanshiro Pond.
