Akabane Hachiman Shrine is a historic shrine in Tokyo, established approximately 1,225 years ago. It was founded after samurai general Sakanoue no Tamuramaro prayed to Hachiman, the Shinto god of battle, at the site. The shrine is unique because a shinkansen tunnel runs underneath its grounds.
