The Chichu Art Museum, built in 2004, is mostly underground to preserve the natural scenery of the Seto Inland Sea. It features permanent displays of art by Claude Monet, James Turrell, and Walter De Maria, within a building designed by Tadao Ando. The museum allows natural light to enter, which alters the appearance of the artworks and the space throughout the day and seasons.
