Okunoin is a Buddhist site and cemetery on Mount Kōya, Japan. It opened in 835 and contains the mausoleum of Kūkai, who founded the Shingon school of Buddhism. The site is considered Japan's largest cemetery, with over 200,000 graves and monuments.
