Futatsu Torii, or Double Torii Gates, are located near the 120th stone marker on the Choishi Michi trail. These gates are about one-third of the way between Jisonin Temple and the stupa in the Danjo Garan temple complex. According to legend, the original wooden torii were built in 819 by Kukai, the founder of Koyasan, to honor the guardian deities Niutsuhime and Takanomiko.
